Rwenzori Climbing Expeditions

We have been climbing the Rwenzori mountains for over 20-years and our guided 9-11 day climbs offer an rwenzoriunforgettable alpine experience in Africa’s highest mountain range (5109m). First identified in Ptolemy’s maps of 150AD, the Rwenzori Mountains are only slightly less mysterious today than they have been for thousands of years.

The expedition includes:

  • Award-winning AFloat guide team
  • All mountaineering/trekking equipment except personal clothing and select items
  • All fees associated with the climb including park entry, hut, guide
  • and porter fees
  • All meals for the duration of the expedition
  • Transfers to and from Kampala

Kibale National Park

Wildlife: 1150 chimpanzees, Red Colobus, L’Hoest Monkey, 13 primate species, 325 species of bird (including large populations of Great Blue Turaco)

Primate Walk: This 2-4 hour walk departskibale daily from Primate Lodge at Kanyanchu in the Forest. Is is the most popular activity in the park and delivers over 90% of the time with chimpanzee viewings of habituated groups of chimpanzees (those comfortable with human visitors and close range). There are also excellent chances to see other primate species as well as the other incredible flora and fauna that makes Kibale so special.

Chimpanzee habituation experience: This is the ongoing process of getting chimpanzees accustomed to human presence without necessarily altering their natural behavior. This is a multi-day experience with some of the chimpanzee researchers which allows the traveler to enjoy an incredible experience living in the forest with the chimpanzees and all of the other forest inhabitants. Of particular interest is witnessing the chimpanzees nest each night and de-camp again in the mornings.

Queen Elizabeth's National Park

This is a wonderful national park, sometimes dubbed 'the Pearl of Africa or Switzerland of Africa'. Quite elizabethsimply this fertile equatorial area is especially scenic, with two lakes connected by a channel overlooked by a high peninsula. You will also find volcanic craters, grassy plains and tropical forest. As a result it has one of the highest biodiversity ratings in the world.

Hunting exhibits such as stuffed lions, leopard skins, deer heads and elephants tusks may still be found adorning some hotels and lodges, but the emphasis is certainly more on shooting with a camera these days. Much of Uganda's wildlife was poached out in the past, especially elephants, but now the area is protected and elephants numbers are boosted by those entering the park from the Congo, where poaching is still a problem.
