Outcomes
1. Explain the concepts and tools of web site development
I ranked myself an 80 because I still feel like I have a lot to learn about web site development. Although I did learn a lot from this class this semester, technology does change often and so does the software. Learning will always be a part of my job.
2. Create web pages in different languages of HTML, XHTML, and XML
I feel very comfortable creating pages in all 3 of these languages. I took Web 126 last semester which helped me better understand XML during this class.
3. Create web pages using standard elements such as text, links, tables, forms, Cascading Style
Sheets, scripting, graphics, flash, and multimedia
I think that I learned the most scripting this semester, so adding that to my pages was a lot easier. I also took Web 130 last semester which helped me to include multimedia, graphics and flash into my sites this semester.
4. Develop web sites having effective navigation, look and feel, page layout, design and search
engine criteria
I feel that this class taught me the importance of having consistent layouts, design and navigation in my sites. I think that the sites I created this semester are by far the best I have every created.
5. Publish web sites to a suitable host or server using web editing and FTP software
Again, I used FTP last year in some of my classes so I felt very comfortable uploading/downloading using FTP software. I did learn other ways to use FTP, like through Internet Exploerer that I did know about from last semester. I used actual FTP software that I have downloaded on my computer from last semester, but that was good to know.
6. Compare various web authoring software and content management systems
I think I still have more to learn about content management systems. I was unable to get to a HACC computer to do the group project myself, which makes me feel like I did not get any hands on time. I would like to futher explore these softwares on my own to get to know them more.
